Wal-Mart Stores Inc is known for being the largest grocery retailer in the United States , provides large number of job opportunities in the labor market and plays vital role in other sector of the economy like distribution channel , tax source , capital holder , and the like . But despite of this great role of Wal-Mart in the American market , still , it has been criticized by various groups of people like women 's right groups , grassroots organizations , and labor unions , regarding its

br unequal employment treatment . Recently , an article reported that Wal-Mart faced a racial discrimination suit and paid roughly 18 million USD just to settle the said case (France-Presse , 2009 . According to the report , the suit was d by Daryal Nelson and Tommy Armstrong who claimed that Wal-Mart Inc and Wal-Mart Transportation LLC discriminated them by not being hired because of their race - African Americans

Wal-Mart claims and continues to brag that they promote diversity among their employees and that they do not discriminate based on gender , race religion , and the like , despite of the said law suit they faced recently . In to avoid committing the same mistake again , the management of Wal-Mart is planning to set up benchmark hiring goals which will make the composition of future hires proportionate to the racial composition of the applicants .
