The company is also behind the importation of almost 10 of goods from China into the U .S . market Considering this market size and large number of goods being traded everyday , its inevitable that Wal Mart has a high number of employees in its payroll . An estimated 1 .9 million workers were employed by the start of the year 2007 . This number therefore calls for a strong and efficient human resource department so that the company benefits maximumly . This is a human resource philosophy that basically deals with the management of people and in this case over workers . It is based on as principle that human resources are distinctively vital in the sustenance of any kind of business in this competitive corporate world . The employees in this case have to be taken for refresher courses to enable them easily internalize and conceptualize the company 's strategies and identify with them in the long run . This will improve the performance of the organization because it will enable the workers be innovative in to provide services that are very unique to our competitors
