Before proceeding any further in the Gays

Lesbians and Bisexuals in Generation y I consider

it necessary to explain certain terms which I

shall be using frequently in this research

.Homosexuality is the sexuaal relationship

between the people of the same sex .The word gay is

used for male homosexuals whereas the word lesbian

refers to female homosexuals .The words heterosexual

and bisexual are exact antonyms of gay

and

homosexuals .Homosexual relations often co-exist

between married males and such

extramarital same sex relations have come to be

known as bisexuality

For many years homosexuality has become a hot

of dispute and has also stimulated scholastic

interest to such an extent that university archives

are now flooding with research s on

gays ,lesbians and bisexuals

I also consider it important to clarify at the

outset the meaning of the word generation y so that

the readership may not be confused as to what it

means .The word Generation y was first coined in

the month of August 1993 to describe the

children who were born during 1984 but

the meaning of the word Generation y has has

changed very much since then to cover anyone born

as late as 2001 .Because they have witnessed 9 /11 a

Dutch news called this generation The

Einstein generation hinting to this generation 's

ability to do many things simultaneously

Generation y is exposed to global thinking trends

and viewpoints because they have access to email

and internet Due to their overexposure to

multiclturalism and liberal trends of sexuality

generation y is more predisposed to

homosexuality ,bisexuality and lesbianism .Being

exposed to upheaval of post 9 /11 era generation y

is cynical ,heretical and prone to absorb new trend

of sexuality without examining its moral and

ethical implications . As a result

homosexulity ,lesbianism and bisexuality are rampant

among this generation which poses a threat to

public health because these exotic sexual

orientations are inseparably linked with dreaded

disease such as AIDS and other fatal STDs

The paradox of generation y is that though

they constitute major part of gay , lesbian

and bisexual population of the United States

they dislike to be referred as gays

lesbians or homosexuals . It is very strange

and irrational .It is like a person getting

scared seeing his own image in the mirror

There are plethora of reasons for gays extreme

aversion for rerms gay and lesbians which in fact

describe their sexual orientation .First and

foremost reason is that these terms have derogatory

innuendos /connotations in larger social context

because social milieu is still hostile to

homosexuals and lesbians . they are yet to get a

respectable place in society .Leave alone society

often they are being disowned by their own family

So overwhelming is social aversion towards

homosexuals and lesbians that the moment a person

admits his homosexual /lesbian /bisexual...
