Students are very busy with hectic schedules and school activities to think about . However , this is not an excuse to slack off and look for the easy way out in times when they feel that they are being pressured They should be responsible enough to manage their time wisely so that they do not cram and resort to cheating . They attend their classes to learn and be capable of doing things on their own and they are not taught to cheat

Plagiarism is an act of cheating because , simply

put , students and even other professionals copy someone else 's work and make it appear as if it were their own . Anything that is borrowed from other people should be indicated as such and the original authors should always be mentioned when they are used for researches and academic s . It is not an excuse to say that a person is not aware of such rules ' because ignorance is never an excuse . Copying someone else 's work word for word and style of writing without properly acknowledging him or her is an act of plagiarism . Changing some of the words in the work does not exempt it from an act of plagiarism either . As such , it is only appropriate that students who are caught practicing plagiarism be punished , same as those who are caught cheating in exams or other academic activities
