In the late 19th century , there were approximately 2 .5 million Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire before the start of World War I (OurArarat .com , 2001 , par .1 . However , after mere two decades or specifically in 1923 , this came close to only about 50 ,000 Armenians living `deplorably ' somewhere in Istanbul (OurArarat

This revolves around the purge of the Armenians that happened in 1915-1916 by the ruling government of Turkey . We further assume that the happening was not mere `incident , just as what the Turkey government is currently appealing . It is , indeed , a genocide , since it is committed in cold blood by the deliberate fiat of holders of despotic political power , and that the perpetrators . employ all the resources of present-day technology and organization to make their planned massacres systematic and complete (Excerpts from UN Report on Genocide , 1985 ,

Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group

Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part

Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group

In the succeeding paragraphs , we shall relay the major supporting arguments that prove the purge of the Armenians as a true and valid genocide , and these shall revolve around the following : first , it is genocide because of the context and the government second , it is genocide because of the motives behind the environment third and last it is genocide because of the social norms and practices in the social environment
