U .S and Mexico on North America

The United States - Mexican War was among one of the most important wars that the two states have ever fought . The main reason behind the escalation of the war between the two states was anchored on the fact that United States and Mexico had distinct differences and goals which overlapped with the two states ' objective towards sovereignty and control . Americans had always looked upon themselves as superior over other races and their belief in the Manifest Destiny had

pushed them to expand and seek control over foreign territories . On the other hand , the Mexicans after their declaration of independence from Spain had different goals set . The Mexicans during this time were still on struggle to establish their own state and identity and in turn find ways of saving their political , economic , military and social status from being left behind ( Manifest Destiny

In addition to this , the United States and Mexico had other grave differences , socially , economically and politically . First , although the U .S and the Mexicans both shared British heritage , their beliefs are different . U .S placed emphasis on education while planters were more dominant in the South . In Mexico , slaves and slave trade had been rampant , which was inevitable for an agriculture based economy . In addition , Mexicans and other Southerners were keen on supporting state rights while opposing taxes , government spending and the likes . On the other hand , Mexican counterparts had been more determined in establishing an industrial economy , hiring workers for paid labor rather than using slaves . And as such , they had approved federal banks and government spending to boost the economy (A Divided Nation . Mexico and their allies wanted to spread and protect slavery towards North American boundaries , while United States worked towards expansionism and promoted industrial growth within the area

Eventually , these disputes led to the U .S-Mexican War . After the war and the Mexican defeat , a distinctively large territory controlled by Mexico had been annexed and seized by the United States . In addition both parties came up with policy changes that catered more the needs and demands of the Americans . As such in the process of the war a number of people , especially minorities , had been displaced and driven away from their lands
