In for a company or an organization to achieve its goals and objectives , it has to consider its current and future resources and strategies in making its plans . This needs good leaders to identify the direction of change and ensure their companies achieve success before the rest . For this to succeed , it involves the implementation of strategic thinking . Introduction

Strategic thinking refers to the ability of an organization to analyze its competitive situation in relation to trends in the market and industry , internal and external current and future customers and its strengths and weaknesses in comparison to other competitors (Cripe Mansfield Mansfield , 2001 . It is made up of both the present information and foresight about the future (Sanders , 1998 ) and forms the basis of effective governance hence helps a firm in effecting change and remaining competitive in the field

It involves information gathering that involves the analytical thinking in changing areas such as technology , politics and markets , and formulation of ideas concerning the future by including forecast prediction and critical evaluation among others in addition to planning actions which assumes that the results of strategic thinking is the result of the action to maintain or change things (Wootton Horne 2000
