I . Introduction

As we look around and observe the magnificent things , we can really say to ourselves that how awesome is he who created the heavens and the earth . We can really say to ourselves that there is someone up there who is greater than us and omnipotent . There are times that we try to figure out things but the truth is we cannot fathom it thus , that is how religion came in . Through religion , we have learned that there is God the God who created the

universe and we are his masterpieces . But his existence has been questioned for many years now whether he does exist or not . Doubts and disbeliefs reign in their minds because of lack of knowledge in knowing God . Religion plays a vital role in helping us to know our Creator thus , many religions are coming out because they want to help the mankind to know about God (see Brandon , S . G . F , ed . A Dictionary of Comparative Religion , 2002 . The two oldest religions are Christianity and Hinduism

Christianity is the religion of Christians . They follow the teachings of a preacher and healer , called Jesus Christ , who lived about 2 ,000 years ago in Palestine in the Middle East . Christians believe that Jesus was the Son of God who came to Earth to save people from their sins After Jesus ' death , his followers spread his teachings far and wide Today , Christianity is the world 's largest religion , with some 2 billion followers , living all over the world . Most Christians share the same basic beliefs but they have different ways of understanding and expressing them . The three main Christian groups are Orthodox Christians , Roman Catholics and Protestants

On the other hand , Hinduism is one of the world 's oldest religions although there is no fixed date for when it began . It is also a very varied religion , with many ways of worshipping . Hindus themselves do not use the word Hinduism to describe their beliefs . They call them sanatana dharma , which means eternal teaching . For Hindus , their religion is a code of behaviour by which they live their daily lives , rather than a separate set of rules and beliefs . It guides how they live , what they eat and how they see the world . Today , there are more than 700 million Hindus .
