PROFESSIONALISM AND ATTITUDES OF PERSONAL TRAINERS

Personal trainers are expected to be very professional in terms of interacting with their clients . This includes carrying an optimistic and encouraging attitude towards personal training individuals regardless of the physical state the client is in (Unruh et al , 2005 A personal trainer will not reproach and intimidate his client during exercise routines . The client 's safety is his first priority , hence introducing stress and pressure on the client to perform more than he can perform is never acceptable . The personal trainer also

shows limitless patience with his client , especially when there are moments when the client is slow and uncooperative , because there will always be specific reasons why the client is showing sluggishness and unwillingness in performing any exercise

A professional personal trainer is also capable of distinguishing personal problems from work hence he should not bring any of his personal issues to the gym . He is also presentable and clean and this can be observed by the way he dresses appropriately at his workplace Cleanliness in a personal trainer can be observed when he does not carry any hint of sweat in his body . A personal trainer cooperates well with his supervisor . He does not get into highly charged debates with his supervisor and in turn discusses issues with his supervisor in a calm manner . The professional personal trainer also follows the rules of the workplace . He is cautious about the situation he is always in and he immediately points out and corrects any situations that pose any threat to the safety of any clients of his workplace

The personal trainer also respects the privacy of all the clients of the gym . He refrains from discussing information about any client with any other person in the workplace and more so when he is outside the workplace . He considers any personal information of his clients as secure and confidential and will not be transferred or shared with any other relative , friend at home or co-worker at the workplace . The only time that the personal trainer will discuss issues with regards to a client is when he needs help in terms of the training he is providing to the clients . He is careful that he will only share information that is relevant for the issue being discussed

The professional personal trainer also waits until he is granted permission by the owner of the fitness center to begin working as a private personal trainer . He is careful that all his actions at the workplace are fully supported by documents that describe his responsibilities at the fitness center . Any other responsibilities not listed in his job will not be performed unless fully described to him by the owner of the fitness center
