Some questions you may wish to consider Is there a need for a new IT strategy Is the current approach helping the organisation to Grow (why or why not be cost conscious have a flexible business model , with flexible location , services build a strong reputation deliver high quality services with easy access Architecture issues How can IT help provide flexibility in locations where care is delivered How can IT assist with a single , easily accessible patient record Consider designing a high level information architecture diagram ICT /IM /IS Strategy (broadly Identifies and defines the strategic recommendations identifies the benefits to be obtained by implementing the strategic initiatives Documents the major stages of the implementation of the strategy , and the inter-dependencies between major stages Shows a `high level ' timeline Explains expected benefits and how the benefits will be assessed /realized Estimation of costs
The purpose of this assignment is to provide students with the opportunity to apply the theory they have studies in this unit in a practical activity where you conceptualize a health organisation 's overall corporate directions and translate this into an ICT plan that complements and facilitates the corporate commitment to its vision mission and goals
In preparing your report you need to Consider the organisation 's strategy and the current issues being faced in achieving this . Use this to identify the performance gap to be closed Document the Information Architecture in a simple manner to show you understand the needs of the business Recommend the initiatives the organisation will need to take to close any ICT gaps
If the case study 'lacks ' information (e ,g , no stated corporate mission /vision ) you may make assumptions - but you need to state these So you can be 'creative ' here but you should be realistic
Analysis
You will need to analyse the current ICT situation as presented in the case study . Consider examining the business direction , the IT /IS /IM architectures , the existing ICT position and an assessment of ICT opportunities . You can make `assumptions ' but these need to be clearly stated in the report
