concerns minority high school students today prefer to apply to smaller colleges than Ivy

leagues because of the existing fierce competition . The quarterly journal of Economics

which was published in 2002 , performed a study that shows students who were accepted

at non-Ivy League colleges earned just as much money as their colleagues who attended

Ivy League . The article further examines how the old-boy networking value has

diminished through the years

were Ivy League undergraduates

High School students today , pay more attention to the reputation of a single

department in a college than the whole university . They no longer prefer brand name

college like Harvard , or Princeton , students prefer to go to college that will match their

chosen future occupation . They seek out a more calmer and less intense college to enjoy

and focus on what they want to do for the rest of their life . The smaller schools have

fewer exams and require no courses however they have research s and exams . The

article goes on to say , in Hampshire students focus more on projects instead of courses

receiving detailed evaluations rather than be with grades

In comparison , the article White Privilege by Kendall Clark

discusses the facts of White Privilege which is defined as a right , or privilege granted

exclusively to white people . The author begins his article by explaining he created

effects out to the forefront . Once socially invisible , Kendall Clark points out the instances

Privilege is after all ' Bijan said , a form of social privilege per se

In other words , the person can figure out the definition of white

Privilege by figuring out what is social privilege . The author explains in the

article how he went to the library and looked up the definition of white privilege only

to find out that if he were to rewrite the definition he would only need to refer to white

people instead of people in general he would create a working definition . The definition

is a working hypothesis that is easy to change and adjust to be able to create more facts to

study

Kendall Clark goes on to explain why defining white privilege is

important . It is because many people want to deny the fact that it doesn 't exist at all

Especially , when people responds to the knowledge by wanting it dismantled and
