Human Happiness

Human happiness is a feeling of contentment mostly seen to cause satisfaction and joy . Happiness is however not easy to come by . One has to be committed to reaching out for it while others suggest that it is actually a matter of choice . This explains diverse thought about how one can be happy (Henry 2004 54-61 ) The source of happiness is the main point of consideration since of one is in need of it , they would do anything to have it . There is a dilemma in what really counts for one

br to be happy . Besides having accumulated lots of wealth and gained financial stability , such people may still crave for happiness . They may stretch their finances and still improve their living standards but still happiness cannot come . The great worry then is on what makes one happy or unhappy and how can this be achieved

During the ancestral period , little finances and resources were available and yet they found happiness in the songs and dance that they were involved . During those days , they would walk long distances to a song or dancing meeting all for the sake of happiness . Besides a hard day 's work , numerous children and other commitments , they still found time to be happy (Herbert 2000 pp . 122-143

In the world today , man has been involved in sporting activities cinema and movies , holidays and among other issues , he has tried to buy happy moments with money . Man has devoted his time in accumulating so much wealth in a quest to have more happiness . Big houses , businesses cars and all kind of luxury at their exposure yet they are not happy Man has failed to understand that happiness comes from an individual having a meaningful life where he can use his strength as well as virtues to make the best out of them . Man has also ignored the fact that , what they are involved in is supposed to be their cause for happiness (Arch Woodside , 2004 pp 34-39

Slum dwellers have little resources and food and other basic needs are as hard as anything else to come by . They live with meager resources survive in congested areas , their children suffer diseases and the society looks at them as pitiable . Behind the scene , those dwellers find happiness in the life they live because they purpose on achieving a goal in life . Despite the suffering , financial constraints among others , they are happy to live with for example their ten children under the same roof and a husband who comes to the house at the end of the day . They find happiness in their family despite financial instability (Daniel 2006 pp 78-89

We generally believe that external conditions such as food friends cars , and money are the real causes of happiness , and as a result we devote nearly all our time and energy to acquiring these ' Quoted from (Geshe , Kelsang 2001 pp 5
