Hamlet is a play about the Prince of Denmark who sought vengeance for his father 's murder . The main character , having the same name as the title , is perhaps the most complex character that Shakespeare had created . Being born a royalty , Hamlet is well-versed and educated in manners . One can imagine his princely stance and outfit , and how he bears himself along with the rest of the characters . He must also have a commanding presence as a result of his high stature in the

society . He must also be well-trained in the crafts of war and sword fighting , from which he must also almost always carry a sword

He is university student together with his peers , Rosencrantz Guildenstern and Horatio . He is an enigmatic character whose ways and purposes are not so easily figured out by the other characters in the play . Other characters think of him as obsessed and impulsive who would rather act rashly than think things through , which was in a manner correct . Hamlet , however , proved to be extremely philosophical and contemplative , and drawn into questions which cannot be readily answered with certainty . His famous soliloquy in Act III scene 1 only proves Hamlet character . Hamlet 's manner of speech is not always direct usually hiding the real meaning of his words that it is sometimes plausible that even he is not aware of it
