A `HEROIN ADDICT`

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

To identify common causes of heroin abuse among university students

To establish the socio economic status of the heroin addicted students in

universities

To explore the behavior and attitudes of the heroin addicts towards the use of the heroin drugs

METHOD OF STUDY

The type of study is a descriptive one

5 of the accessible population is selected as a sample for study . The target group is 10 ,000 university undergraduates

Thus 5 of 10000 is 500 students

Data collection method

The method of collecting

data is carrying out interviews and administering written interviews to respondents

SAMPLE SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT

Selection and recruiting samples

Simple random sampling is carried out as follows

The list of all 10000 students is compiled . Each student is assigned a number from 00001 to 10000 .this is the population frame for this study

The desired sample of 500 students is noted

Random picking of the 500 numbers is done thus to avoid biased data collection

Data collection instruments

The questionnaires and interviews schedules are used

The written questionnaires

Items in the questionnaires are constructed and pre-tested to a selected sample to enhance reliability of instrument . The procedures for testing are to be identical so as to enhance reliability

The nature of the study is sensitive and it requires the interviewer to be a knowledgeable and courteous person who has sufficient communication skills

Respondents are to be assured of confidentiality in the cover letter

The respondents should know the following in to honest

The importance and significance of the study

Brief assurance of confidentiality and anonymity of respondents

Advisable to have an endorsement from the university administration
