The Grey Zone
The Grey Zone Historical events have been relived through film numerous times Cliche as it may seem , historical films usually bore viewers to the point wherein they think such a film is a waste of time and finances Conversely , the Grey Zone sets itself apart from the usual eye-tearing platonic , and conventional presentation of historical occurences since the film is more of an experiential account of horrifying experiences that leave a group of individuals a sadistic choice between genocide of their own kind or immediate excruciating death The motion picture basically

roots from the experiences of Auschwitz concentration camp Doctor , Miklos Nyiszli and journals dug from the camp site itself . The film concerns the 12th unit of the Sonderkommandos , a band of jewish interns who act as executioners for the Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz . The Sonderkommandos are forced to exterminate and dispose of their own people so they themselves may extend the duration of their lives . The film 's more realistic torment is on the fact that the Jewish Sonderkommandos buy four more months of their lives knowing that they themselves will be entering the very chamber they operate
As their contract nears its expiration , the Jewish Sonderkommandos plan a revolt that intends to destroy the chambers that serve as their insurance policies . The plot is supported by the women slaves from the polish b who smuggle firearms and other explosives via the bodies transported to the execution centers . The rebellion is soon thwarted by a young girl who is discovered underneath a rubble of bodies . The mutineers then display crumbs of what used to be their dignity in their dedication to save the girl 's life and vindicate their ethnic treason despite the threat that the move imposes on the cause they are fighting for
The Gray Zone follows the daily misadventures of the Jewish Sonderkommandos with a trite depiction of the true events of the holocaust . The merciless treatment of the Jewish victims make Friday the 13th a children 's fairytale . Though less graphic like other holocaust films such as Schindler 's List , the horror element is subsidized by the dark cinematography and the emotionless faceless of the ones watching during the killing process . If it were not for the cinematic elements poorly incorporated in the film , it could be mistaken for an amateur investigative report
Given that the motion picture is taken from the testimony of Doctor Nyiszli , the film gives a testimonial account to some of the real events of the holocaust . Despite the reality that the film attempts , it is still fictionalized in various ways . The first distortion of reality comes in the language , wherein most of the characters who are supposed to be central Europeans speak vernacular english , as if the film is an american teenage movie . Arquette gives out a highly emotional performance , but the authenticity of the character is disrupted by the actor 's American accent
The film 's graphic heavy presentation overlaps the complex elements that make the film appear...
