Global warming has considerable political implications for economic and social policy and has raised vigorous debate worldwide as a result of the related scientific uncertainties . This has lead to the argument that that global warming cannot be proven scientifically nor is it a serious issue . Global warming refers to as the average increase in the atmospheric temperature of the earth annually as a result of the

greenhouse effect This effect is due to anthropogenic greenhouse emissions namely carbon dioxide , methane , nitrous oxide , hydroflurocarbons , perfluorocarbons and sulfur hexafluoride (IPCC 68 . To establish global warming scientists compare the temperature today with those of 100 years ago highlighting that it is warmer today than in the past and as such there will be future increases in temperature . The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC ) reported that the average annual temperature of the earth has increased by approximately 0 .6 ?C over the past 100 years (5 . Based on climatic models , the IPCC has stated that the global average temperature is projected to increase by 1 .4 to 5 .8 by 2100 (10 . These points form the basis for argument for global warming however even the IPCC acknowledges that the current models for predicting future global warming may not be accurate .
