Global warming means different things to different people . It may be referred to as a given fact , a scientific sham or something in between The prospect that a large percentage of global warming is caused by the actions of humans causes even more debate . Nevertheless , it is now an issue very few people are lacking an opinion on . In that atmosphere it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction . Some parts of the global warming theory are , in fact , proven

, while others are not . The question is whether humans can afford inaction now

Assembling a global coalition is necessary for a global problem but doing so may be more difficult than solving the problem itself Short-term economic interests trump long-term environmental interests Until the two are effectively merged coherent action may be impossible
