Johnny Cash was born on Kingsland Arkansas in February 26 , 1932 . He was a very prominent singer and song writer . H was married to a country singer named June Carter and he died in September 12 , 2003 . He was known for his profound , and unique voice , as well as on his manner and dark attires which made people call him The Man in Black . At

the age of 5 Cash was working in the cotton fields . Their farm was frequently flooded which made him write the song Five Feet High and Rising . His family 's financial and personal toils affected his personality and inspired many of the songs he wrote . His early memories were directed mainly by gospel music . It was small wonder that he released My Mother 's Hymn Book which comprises of gospel songs . He was greatly influenced by Irish music , especially those carried out by Dennis Day . In August 7 1954 , Johnny married Vivian Liberto and they settled in Memphis Tennessee . Cash went on to Sun Studio wherein he hoped to get himself a recording contract . Sam Phillips did not like gospel songs and thus he rejected Cash . Cash did not lose hope and return with a new batch of songs which earned him a contract in Sun studio . Cash released Hey Porter ' and Cry Cry Cry ' in 1955 . Most of Cash 's albums became a hit and just when his career was taking off he became addicted to drugs Cash was put into jail for anumber of times which is probably the reason why he felt great sympathy for prisoners . This sympathy made him perform on various prisons and led to the release of his albums Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison ' and Johnny Cash at San Quentin . Cash had been very influential to many artists during his time . Upon his death he was admired by the best popular artists during his time .
