It may seem that George Washington 's achievements are too arduous to follow and unsuitable to practice in the contemporary society but in reality his life experiences and accomplishments are timeless . This means that Washington 's actions are quintessential in the world of politics and patriotism . No matter what era or period it is , his legacy of establishing the first American revolutionary government will forever be embedded in the history of the United States of America . In the 1200s , a man named William de Hertburn bought a land called the manor of Washington ' and based on traditions during that time , he used the name of the estate as his own family name . For those who immigrated to America , a small clan of Washington settled in Westmoreland County in Virginia
The father of George Washington was Augustine Washington . He had a first family before he met the mother of George , Mary Ball who was characterized as a woman of middle stature ' simple , high spirited intellectual and strong character . Augustine 's first marriage gave him three sons and a daughter . When he remarried at the age of 36 years old he was blessed with six children wherein George was the eldest Unfortunately at an early age , George was already exposed to big responsibilities such as taking care of his mother because of the unexpected death of his father .
