Title of

Student 's Name

George Washington was born on February 22 , 1732 , to Augustine and Mary Washington . He was not a part of the upper class , had a meager education , and certainly didn 't ascertain his position in life by accident . He was chosen as the first President of the United States because of his character and his ability to lead , and because of his charisma . Charisma has been studied as a trait and

as a set of behaviors . The trait approach to charisma looks at qualities such as being visionary , energetic , unconventional , and exemplary . Charismatic leaders are also thought to possess outstanding rhetorical ability . It was this charisma , this clear ability to lead that made George Washington the most significant leader in the founding of the United States of America

Washington demonstrated fully the characteristics of a visionary leader and the intellectual and moral capacity , and in the face of adversity was able to maintain his focus on the goals at hand . George Washington demonstrated his leadership skills as the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army of the Revolution , the president of the Constitutional Convention and the first President of the United States of America . Washington created the Continental Army and held it together , under extremely adverse circumstances , for the eight years it took to win independence . His awesome prestige created the atmosphere in which the Philadelphia Convention of 1787 could draft a constitution that the states would ratify and it is certain that the office of president was created only because he was available to fill it (Gregg Spalding , 1999 ) Washington never used his power as President in an abusive manner and voluntarily removed himself from office , in to make sure that no man would maintain control of the country

Washington was not a perfect man . As a soldier he was capable of rashness and poor judgment...
