Introduction

From a very lower level of our academic life , we were made to understand that our environment is very important to us , and that , we should strive to conserve it always . As such , curriculum developers worldwide struggled to develop a series of instructional materials which were aimed at shedding more light on proper ways of relating with our environment . Therefore , a subject known as Geography was developed and brought in to the curriculums of almost all the countries of the world . The subject name may differ

from one nation to the other but the core instructional materials and content is always closely related Whether in Malaysia (Asia , Kenya (Africa ) or in US (North America Geography has got the same meaning , the study that deals with the earth and earth forming processes . Due to its broadness , Geography has many fields , taught at different levels of schooling , starting from the basic knowledge , to units that are more complex . These complex units seek to integrate Geography with other disciplines or seek to bring out the effect , the learning of Geography has on the life of a human being

One such complex unit is that of , Geography and world affairs . In this unit , other many smaller s can arise , again depending on the level of instruction . A like , drug trade in South America ' is a good example of complex geographic s . This seeks to integrate geography with other issues of concern to human life . For instance the drug trade menace has been an issue of great concern not only to the countries concerned but also to the whole globe . From the knowledge imparted by geography classes and lessons it is very easy to tackle an issue like this one because the geographic location of the place in question is already known , the climate and the terrain are also known (because drugs are grown , and other geographical factors that influence the trade of drugs

Firstly this issue of drug trade or what is popularly known as drug trafficking is a worldwide network of cultivation , manufacture distribution , and sale of illegal drugs . It should be noted that the legalization of various drugs depends on a nations laws . For instance while it is legal to posses or even sale bhang in a given country it is illegal to do the same in another country . Like other black market traders , the sale of illegal drugs operates in underground manner . These illegal trades are mostly carried out by drug cartels that specialize in the various stages of the drug market e .g . cultivation cartels manufacturing cartels , selling cartels e .t .c . These cartels , are organized in a hierarchal manner , from low-level street dealers , street gangs , contractor-like middlemen and lastly multinational companies that influence Government operations
