Introduction About 50 years ago , if you were not a white male , then , the prospects for getting a highly paid job as well as advancement in your career were slight or at all . Mahar cites Susan Brown in her memoir , In our time : Memoir of a revolution , she was asked to fill up a form when a applying for a job in 1960s , asking the last date she had her previous period , in addition the form also wanted her to fill if she had at any time had an unlawful operation . Currently , such

questions are prohibited . Article VII of the 1964 Civil Rights act , bans any type of discrimination whether based on race , religion , sex , colour or country of origin . In addition , 1963 Equal Pay Act prohibits organizations from formulating gender-based pay discrimination regarding workers who perform same work under similar conditions . Also , the1991 , Civil Rights Act comprises stipulations for monetary injures in instances of deliberate discrimination . Article VII of the 1964 Civil Rights as well set up the USA Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC , the commission started working in 1965 and has a duty of enforcing the federal acts which disallows workplace discrimination . When EEOC trusts that discrimination has happened , the EEOC tries a voluntary solution among the parties concerned . or else , the EEOC s a case at the federal court
Problem statement
Is gender discrimination still occurring at the workplace ? Are women still encountering unequal payment for equal assignment ? Do some barriers , founded on attitudinal or organizational prejudice , still present in limiting women from making advancement in their organization and attaining their whole potential ? A lot of people would concur that these issues and discrimination of women is improper and unlawful and should not be tolerated . theless , many women have continued to be discriminated in their workplace , in one way or another . Women for example are questioned if the family responsibilities could hamper their performance at work and at times questioned about their competency
This proposed research will explore the basis of Gender Discrimination in the Workplace- Has it gotten better or worse in 50 years ? This research will draw from the findings and implications of previous performed research and data to provide clarity to the underlying issue With increasing number of people becoming more conscious that any kind of discrimination is illegal , the research seek to find out the current level of discrimination and 50years ago , whether gender workplace discrimination has reduced or increased

This research proposes to state that Gender Discrimination in the Workplace in the past 50 years has reduced
