Gays should be allowed to adopt children

The word gay refers to relationship where two people of the same sex who have agreed to live together in a marital union . Such people are also referred to as homosexuals . Gay unions or marriages have attracted a lot of controversies worldwide with a lot of people feeling very negatively about such unions more so when gay couples started pressing to be allowed to legally adopt children . When two people of same sex come together in

a marital union the possibility of having children is ruled out because of the biological setbacks associated with such a marriage . The issue of child adoption among gay couples is not a very new phenomenon as there are many who get into a union with one partner already having a child especially in the case of lesbians and so the other partner has to adopt that child as their own . Children have therefore been growing up in such relationships . This fact has not stopped anti-gay activists from carrying out their campaigns to oppose child adoption for such couples . Some people have argued that the fight against child adoption by gays is mainly steered up by a discriminatory attitude that people have towards gays couples rather than concern for lives of children raised up in such unions . Statistics in the USA indicate that there are very many children holed up in foster homes waiting for adoption . From a number of about 100 ,000 thousand children in foster homes , only about 20 ,000 are lucky to be put up for adoption in one year . Furthermore , single people are allowed to adopt children . Perhaps gay couples should therefore be allowed to legally adopt such children to save them from the agony of living in foster homes or moving from one foster home to another which is very unhealthy for their development . Children in heterosexual relationships are not exempted from such problems as child abuse . Worse still , there are such couples who are living under very poor financial conditions and therefore having a lot of difficulties raising children leading to case of child neglect . If a child can be adopted by a gay couple who are able to financially provide for them , then such a child will live a more comfortable life than their counterpart in a heterosexual relationship
