Technological breakthroughs of the twenty century are seen as a key attribute explaining the human development witnessed at the turn of the century . As a result , poverty levels have been reduced . Technological break troughs favor those in the front though the trickle down effect is expected to avail benefits to the poorer in society

Social inequalities are seen

as crucial in explaining the emergence of mental diss . There is a strong correlation between income inequality and mental illness . The poorest percentile of the population is more affected by mental illness as compared to the rich percentile Psychological problems such as engagement in violence and crime are found to be higher in poorer sections as compared to the rich ones Suicide rates are also higher in the poorer segments of society

Globalization has affected how psychological diss are viewed , for instance , the increased training in the psychology is critical in helping individuals affected by psychological problems (Ming-Chang 2006 . There is access to Western treatment as a result of industrialization . Identity development has also shifted as a result of globalization . The use of electronic and print media is critical in this aspect . Through the use of Western based media , the world is culture or socialize to Western orientations . The perceptions that the Western way is the superior one puts a strain on the other cultures as individuals struggle to conform to the Western levels . This inherently breeds a social conflict among the different cultures
