Introduction

Many children under the age of 14 years all over the world are found to be engaged in some form of child labor . In some instances , these children are engaged in activities that are hazardous to their health Children coming from poor backgrounds are found to be more likely to be engaged in child labor . Girls are more burdened with household chores in many cases . Young girls are forced to work as domestic servants undergoing harsh conditions

with a lot of mistreatment and being exploited both economically and sexually

According to the statistics by the International Labor Organizations (ILO , the number of children who are undergoing child labor is about 250 million in the whole world . Asia alone accounts for 61 of these children (Silan , 2001 . Of all the children undergoing child labor about half of them work full time , and the rest are highly exploited Children at the age of seven years are even found to be involved in child labor in Asia . These children can be found to be engaged in like in household work , mines , farms , construction industry , and worse even in drug peddling . Others can be found living as scavengers , begging in the streets , or working in other small industries . Most of the works that the children are involved can not be controlled basically because they are informal in nature
