Summary of Article on DES

DES is a synthesized hormone which acts as an estrogen . This substance was commonly prescribed to pregnant women who were at the risk of losing too much estrogen during their pregnancy and menopausal stage . Later studies then showed that the use of DES resulted to unhealthy pregnancies and caused a lot of complicated side

effects . It has also been discovered that women who have been exposed to DES has an increased chance of having breast cancer and other serious sickness . Recent studies suggest that estrogen is involved neuro-biological development It is also found to have a lot of effects during the whole life of the woman . Estrogen mainly helps in establishing brain formation in the fetus . It also maintains that the structured form of the brain during adolescence . These discoveries add a lot to the loads of information about DES . It has been proven that there is a higher chance of having immune diss amongst daughters who were exposed to DES when they were in the wombs of their mothers in comparison to other women who had not been exposed to the artificial estrogen . All these risks and evidences lead us to the fact that the use of DES in women is very life threatening . In my opinion , the use of drugs in women to control or suppress their hormonal effects and to improve their health is acceptable . When the time comes that these drugs have negative effects on women , this is a signal that the use of it should be regulated and certain rules and regulations should be followed . Critical effects like breast cancer , and cancer of the cervix is a very serious disease . Decisions concerning the use of artificial estrogen pills should be handled with great objective and subjective assessment . Health care professionals should also be advised about the bad effects of these medicines . This information is very useful to our society today

It has been known that constant estrogen ingestion in the form of tablets , supplements and pills can greatly cause the estrogen receptors in a woman 's body to be less receptive and responsive . In other words when the body of a woman already has a high content of estrogen this makes the receptors for estrogen to be less sensitive and numb ' to the estrogen levels . A good analogy would be when you enter a tropical country during summer . When you first arrived in the tropical country you notice the hot temperature in the surroundings and you begin to sweat .
