This was the major difference in the conduct of eBay 's normal customer and Bidder 's Edge Inc . As you read in the article , it had negotiated to get linked to eBay 's website . Had eBay agreed for this then Bidder 's Edge would also have been one of the regular customers of eBay . In spite of disapproval of any such partnership , Bidder 's edge indulged in using the eBay 's website and that too using a proxy server , which was a highly illegal activity . This activity of Bidder 's Edge was different from the activities of eBay 's normal customers . Naturally it mattered to eBay a lot as Bidder 's Edge intentionally and in an unauthorized way (by using a proxy server ) used its services . eBay feared that if Bidder 's edge would have continued in this manner then it would have caused a great deal of disruption to eBay 's normal functioning . This meant a loss in the business and inconvenience to the authorized users which is an unwanted situation for any leading website
