Frankenstein
Like all great novels , Frankenstein justifies its popularity by providing the reader with a fantastic story that pushes the limits of one 's imagination . The title of the story , contrary to popular belief comes not from the monster (who is known as Frankenstein 's monster ) but rather from the scientist , Victor Frankenstein , who embarks on a quest to create life and in doing so creates a monster in man 's image . While seemingly lacking in emotion , the author is able to convince the readers that there might be more to the creature than

previously thought
The story begins with a series of letters that Robert Walton , a captain aboard a ship on its way to the North Pole , sends to his sister back in England . As the captain recounts his travels in his letters , he begins to narrate a strange encounter that he makes with Victor Frankenstein who has been travelling across the North Pole . As Victor Frankenstein is revived , he begins to recount his tale of the creature that he created
The tale of Victor Frankenstein begins with his early studies and finally his morbid fascination with creating life . Here begins the creation of what will ultimately become known as Frankenstein 's monster While it should have been considered a success , Victor Frankenstein is horrified by his creation and resolves to get rid of his creation . This conviction becomes magnified when Victor Frankenstein begins to blame the creature for the death of his brother
The plot begins to thicken when the creature and its maker meet each other and Victor Frankenstein realizes that the creature has feelings of some sort thus prompting it to ask him for a mate . Unwilling to create another monstrosity , Frankenstein destroys the mate that he has been creating and the monster vows to exact his revenge . When the monster exacts his revenge , Frankenstein vows to do kill the monster which leads to the meeting in the North Pole when the monster decides to run off into the ice and eventually meet his demise
