Like all great novels Frankenstein justifies its popularity by providing the reader with a fantastic story that pushes the limits of one 's imagination . The title of the story , contrary to popular belief , comes not from the monster (who is known as Frankenstein

's monster ) but rather from the scientist Victor Frankenstein , who embarks on a quest to create life and in doing so creates a monster in man 's image . While seemingly lacking in emotion , the author is able to convince the readers that there might be more to the creature than previously thought .
