Introduction

Plato is a famous Greek philosopher he was born in the Athens , Greece in the year 427 B .C . and his real name was Aristocles . His work the myth of the cave was mainly about a certain person enlightened about the real form of goodness how and when it could be able to attain by a certain person . In the discussion in

Plato 's work , he described the world as materialist by simply describing the cave that the people were chained in he depicted the world as a world full of sufferings and difficulties . Also that the only seen thing in the world are only those what people see through their eyes . On the contrary , Plato depicted the real world through an idealist way by assuming that the real world could only be seen if a person would make effort to see it and that the real world , as he said through his discussion , is perfect . Indeed Plato 's myth of the cave was made for people to understand that he depicted the cave as the world we are living in and that the fire inside the cave is the sun which enables us to see the figures around us . And that the only way to obtain and make the journey to the real world is to break free from those chains that stop us in doing so . Plato wanted people to understand that the real world is ascend and that people should struggle to see it

Socrates as the character who explains the discussion in the story says that people lives in a cave with an ascending opening going towards the light . He also said that people in the cave were chained by the head and the legs so that they would not be able to move or twist their head into another direction . The other character , who 's Glaucon , simply agreed and said that Socrates ' image was strange . Right then , Socrates said that people are imprisoned in the cave and if a certain person would manage to escape , that certain person would be able to see the real world the world that is beyond what their eyes see inside the cave . Glaucon asked Socrates if the person would be able to comprehend the world outside of the cave if ever the person would be able to see it and Socrates simply said no because the person should first be used to the things he see in the upper world . That the person would be able to see the sky and all the things that can be seen with it through day and night vision Glaucon again asked what if the person would decide to go back into the cave .
