Flannery o Connor dismissal from today`s literary Cannon
This essay will delve into the life of Flannery O 'Connor not only as it is told biographically but as her life relates and is reiterated in the stories she writes . By using O 'Connor 's fiction as a backdrop to her life , the essay will focus on the bizarre characterization of the protagonists of O 'Connor 's stories as much as O 'Connor herself was a very unique person . Thus , O 'Connor will be exemplified as being explained through her characters such as in the stories Wise Blood , Good Country People and

A Good Man is Hard to Find . It is through these works that Flannery O 'Connor should be dismissed from the literary canon , and through examples of these works this essay will delve into O 'Connor 's own style of story telling as it diverts tremendously from the canon
Hazel Motes is the protagonist in O 'Connor 's story Wise Blood . Hazel Motes ' grandfather did not like Hazel because they had the same face His grandfather had an influence upon Hazel to become a preacher . He only ever wanted be a preacher . His mother seems overbearing and redemption centered wearing black all the time . Hazel went through a lot of stress because his two brothers died and his mother and grandfather soon followed . When Hazel got out of the army and went home , he realized that his house was empty and torn . So he took a train to nowhere (Taulkinham ) to do `something . He was trying to run from the void of himself . In this part of the story it is clear that O 'Connor is writing with disregard to the canon because her main character has learned nothing from his experience of being in the army and the death of his family has no effect on him and it is through this example that O 'Connor should be dismissed from the literary canon because of her own strident yet too bizarre a take on life which is out of context for any hold on reality the point of fiction is to write so that the reader may gain some insight into their own reality , and O 'Connor 's created fantasies have no bearing on the real world and thus their merit is compromised , and the divergence from the canon is too extreme
