Clearly both photographs have their own stories to tell . One can easily describe the subject 's actions and through observation , one can easily tell its literal components . However , the political situations during the time these photographs were taken make this photographs more unique . They create a more profound story-- a story that illustrates historical realities Both photos are in black

and white colors . This is not to convey a blacker mood just like how contemporary photographers used black and white for ghost towns and abandoned places , grotesque architecture and etc , but in these photographs to use black and white is inevitable since these were taken during the time when there only exists black and white photography . In the past especially during political wars , during the initial mechanical production and industrialization , photography captures different realities . Hines in these photographs however focused about the misconceptions about European immigrants . Similarly , Hine wants to disprove the general idea that to be an immigrant in the United States is dangerous . He form conclusion after observing the events on the photos he took . Through these photos , he shows the other side of the coin base from reality and not in exaggerated assumptions . He took pictures as they are and the reality behind that photos will manifest itself
