Second Self-Assessment

Since my first in this class , the self-assessment , I have taken note of how my writing has changed or how I use my writing in other facets of my life such as other classes and in my job . I still do not see my purpose for writing any differently than I stated in my first assessment , and that is for education or short business messages and documents for my career ' What I would add is that I can now also see

the need to develop those short writings into longer reports and presentations as and if my career advances

Currently , my purpose in writing is to complete school assignments and to communicate with subordinates at work . For academic purposes , I usually have short answers or summaries of other people 's information to show that I am learning the material . This has been helpful in providing a guide in which to format correspondence at work . While my purpose there is to communicate simply with others , it is also imperative that I have the necessary tone when doing this . I have learned about word choice and grammar , and now feel more comfortable even communicating with those in positions higher than mine due to the rules that I have learned . Academic writing is more structured , more formal , and has more rules than the writing that I do on the job , but it has prepared me to write more professionally than I had originally anticipated that it would . I am more prepared to communicate with those in positions higher than mine

Having guidelines to work with and learning the rules of rhetoric has been helpful . Practicing the skill of writing has also been very helpful and will carry over in to all of my academic classes and work related writings . It has allowed me to and will continue to allow me to strengthen the areas where I am weaker and to hone the areas that I already had a grasp on . I take pleasure when I can convey what I mean to say exactly the way I wanted to say it through my writing

Document design has been not only fun to learn , but practical . In some of my class work , I have been asked to provide graphs or pictures , and I feel that I have done an excellent job of formatting my s to be aesthetically pleasing , informative , and concise . I choose my visuals based on the most precise , efficient , pleasing visual available as to portray the message and meaning in a very straightforward , visually stimulating , and informative manner . I have enjoyed working with document design and know that in the future it will be a skill I will utilize more often

Although for now my purpose in writing remains the same , my future goals for writing have expanded due in part to the skills I have learned in this class .Last Name PAGE 1...
