The Field of Public Health
The Field Of Public Health The public health occupation I selected as my study is the Public health Nursing . This occupation deals with nursing services in the home and the public with a focus on infectious disease study and mother and child health for high-risk teenagers , women and their offspring . The following is synthesized findings on the similarities and differences between interviewed public health professional from the same category Interviewees include Dr . Elizabeth Funk , Tuberculosis Control officer of the State of Alaska and Dr . Jeanne Irwin-Olsen , Assistant Director of Wellness Program

for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG . Their similarities are that both were engaged in people management particularly the people working under them as well as in financial management . Both of them showed great amount of dedication to their work as well as willingness to face the challenges in their work Their differences centered primarily on the nature of their jobs
Dr . Jeanne Olsen worked as a coordinator for the UNCG where she coordinates a wellness series for senior women at Chatham hall in Virginia , while Dr . Funk is responsible in Tuberculosis patient management , as well as to coordinate with public health nurses and other healthcare professionals
The information given by Dr . Jeanne Olsen correlates with Turnock 's Public Health : Career Choices that Makes a Difference because most those information pertains to her job , which requires analysis , organizing planning , directing and evaluating . On the other hand , the information given by Dr . Funk correlates with Turnock 's View of her responsibility for grant writing . Bernard Turnock (2006 ) stated that incumbent at this level independently propose and direct epidemiological investigations or act as the principal investigator on local , state , or federal research grant (p . 133

In the Public Health Nursing , these essential services are also clearly reflected as public health nurses are involve in the direct care through process of evaluation and assessment of the individual needs in the context of their population group
My impressions on public health have definitely changed because I used to view public health as merely clinical issues . I was actually amazed by the extensive scope of the public health service , which does not only covers clinical practice but also research , planning , managing etc . It is generally complicated , yet its every sphere is highly structured and organized . Public health services according to Vincent Lafronza public services are concerns about the population wide improvement of health through prevention and health promotion .
