Introduction

Although the United States has been criticized for not adopting a social welfare society , it has put place programs which serve the same purpose as the welfare society . There are social welfare programs like food stamps , housing assistance , TNF , and many others which have been instituted with the aim of giving assistance to poor families . This will look into my family and how it has been benefiting from a government social welfare program

Family structure

My family lives

in the rural areas where majority of the people are farmers . We moved from New York when I was three years old following the death of my father . When my mother found it difficult to feed and cloth a family of four children , she decided to move her family to the rural area where life was more bearable

I have two sisters and one brother . However when my aunt passed away her two children was forced to come and live with us from Canada Therefore we grew up as a family of six children , our mother and our grandfather . Our grandfather has been a farmer for his entire life . When we can here , he supported us with his earning from the farm . However he has grown old with age and can no longer support the whole family with the farm . My mother has been forced to take up the role of taking care of the family including my grandfather .
