Introduction

Roosevelt 's inaugural speech touched on at least four main themes which he proposed to focus on during his administration . These included the need to revitalize the economy , a call to immediate action by all citizens , a change in the morals of the American people , especially the business fraternity and the need for all Americans to be hopeful for the future . He called on the citizens to renew their thinking about basic human values by focusing on the spirit of service and redirecting their efforts

to the sectors of the economy that could yield the highest gain .He promised that his administration will initiate projects that will deal with unemployment and restructure the financial sector to rid it of unscrupulous practices . His main agenda was to get the local economy back on sound footing before attempting to solve the economic problems facing the global community . In a rejoinder to his audience , he reiterated the need for good neighborliness as a first step to ensuring progress

Roosevelt appreciated the bipartisan nature of congress may slow down a number of reforms that he planned to put in place and assured the American people that he was willing to assume emergency powers to get the difficult task of rebuilding the economy done . His dedication to correcting the ills of the state resonated throughout the speech
