Paper Topic:

Expanding the geographic range of the African Honeybee

THE MIGRATORY PATTERN OF THE AFRICAN HONEYBEES

People have increasingly sought honeybees for commercial purposes . The honeys they produce might have been sweeter for the honeybee industry for the income they accumulate . But for ordinary people , honeybees are as fearsome as snakes and lions in the wild because of the sting they carry with them . Honeybees , especially the Africanized honeybees were known for their killer image and that has been proven countless times by events of people , mostly kids being attacked and killed by African honeybees

In this , we will look

into the characteristics or the Africanized honeybees , their role in the ecosystem and in the economic aspect of the community where they are being raised . More importantly , we will try to trace the origin of the said creatures by first looking into their evolutionary patterns and then their geographic migratory pattern . We will be reviewing several literature published in books , journals magazines and even online sources in to have a broader yet clearer understanding of our main concerns

The first part of this will present the pro of the Africanized honeybees , which will focus on their physical and behavioral characteristics . The evolutionary pattern will be discussed more extensively since it will be directly related to the migratory pattern of the subject . At the end of this , this author expects to serve its purpose of establishing a clear picture of the geographic migratory pattern of the Africanized honeybees

PRO OF THE AFRICAN HONEYBEES

Judging by one 's bare eyes , it will be hard to distinguish African Honeybees from European honeybees . Taxonomically speaking , both were members of the Apidae family , of the phylum Anthropoda , class Insecta of the Hymeoptera (Potter , Anthony1997 . Africanized honeybees are however members of the subfamily apinae and are one of the subspecies of the European Honeybee (Camazine , Scott and Robert A . Morse 1988 ,

.465 Its scientific name is Apis mellifera scutellata and is usually being mistakenly identified with the temperamental European Honeybee (Apis Mellifera

Africanized honeybees can only be distinguished with European honeybees under a microscope since they are almost identical in size and physical characteristics . Their difference can also be distinguished through DNA analysis . 1They both have brownish colors , with black stripes that are not that much distinct as those with wasps . They are robust and fuzzy have four clear wings to the thorax to which the six legs were at the bottom . At the end of the thorax , which is larger than the abdomen lays the stinger . Its small head has two compound eyes which enable the insect to see ultraviolet rays . This characteristic also distinctively allows Africanized honeybees to fly even at night Like other honeybees , the queens are the largest in their social structure far larger than the drones and the workers

Aside from its name Brazilian bees , Africanized honeybees are famous of its name , killer bees . This is primarily because these subspecies have been known and reportedly been killing or at least severely hurting...
