Theologians have stated that the word exile have somewhat an ambiguous meaning and refers to a journey which has no end , a painful process which people with a common community tie experience when they are disconnected and memories which are full of nostalgia . Theologians such as Michael Jonathan (2005 ) expressed the idea that much of the explanation of the exile is theoretical other than practice as the of an ending journey took so long having a great number of Babylonians who living

in unpredictable destinations and what kept them going was the hope and faith that they would one day return to their homes

According to Jonathan (2005 ) the scriptures have portrayed hopes of the emergency of the Israel state , a state which will have been redeemed fro the exile . The end of the battle would mean that the oppressors of the Palestinians and Babylonians would be finished and that the people of God would be set free . A long period of waiting for this happening however made the Christian hope appear as hopeless

According to Michael (2005 ) theologians have argued that the exile took place as a way of God expressing his disapproval of the immorality which the Babylonians and the Palestinians participated in . The Israelites became rebellious and stubborn towards the instructions which were given by the prophets of God . They refused to obey the commandments of God and instead turned to the worship of idols . The Israelites also accepted to accommodate the heathen nations who came and requested to stay in the holy land of God , the Canaan . This in turn ded the Israelites and their land

Other practices which the Israelites participated in to annoy God was the offering of sacrifices to the pagan deities and this included their own blood and sacrificing of their own children , they also followed the wicked ways which Manasseh their king practiced . The exile according to the prophet Jeremiah was a promise by God that he would punish his people if they did not heed to his laws . The suffering of people was therefore a consequence of disobedience

Theologians have explained that though there is a lot of anguish for he Babylonians in exile as portrayed by the tears of Rachael in Jeremiah 31 :15 , God was at the end going to forgive his people and show mercy to them . Jeremiah 31 has described the kind of forgiveness God was going to show his people where God had promised to establish a covenant that was new and make his people get out of exile . According to Jeremiah 31 :31-34 , God was going to reunite Judah and Israel , he was going to write his holy laws in the hearts of his people , he promised that the Israelites would be his called people , God promised to establish a very close relationship with the Israelites and that he would undertake to forgive their sins forever .
