Running head : Exercise in Empathy Exercise in Empathy within the workplace Name University Course Tutor Date For the last five years I have worked for a garment manufacturing company located in my city . In the beginning , I worked at the garment cutting department where I worked for three years . Afterwards , I was promoted to the position of a supervisor where I was allocated ten employees to supervise and report to the head of department . Many complaints have arisen from employees about unfair treatment from the management of

the company . The ten employees I supervised were composed of three female and seven male workers . It happened that one of the female employees was pregnant and required a paid maternity leave . Since the company was experiencing a peak season , it restricted employees from taking leaves . In this case , the worker was restricted from taking hers by denying leave her allowances . In my own opinion , the worker was mistreated since employees have a right to seek leaves when they feel it is necessary . The management lack proper understanding about the diversified needs of their workers and used uniform laws to regulate their employees . The management never understood the needs of the worker and this was the cause of the mistreatment
A better way to handle the situation would have been discussing with the employee and providing her with maternity leave . Employees have the right to take a leave when they feel necessary and they should not be restricted by their leaders . Law provides...
