Exegesis of Ephesians 5:22-33

p There are few verses in the Bible which are more controversial than Ephesians 5 :22-23 . This is understandable in a world which seeks to put ones own definitions on the role , importance and definition of the family . In 1950 , less than 3 of American children were born to unwed mothers . In 2006 , that number had jumped to over 38 (Pearson , 2006 . pg 3 ) Coupled with the feminist movement which continues to this day certain verses in the Bible are being attacked by revisionists who feel that some passages in the Bible are

unnecessary or just oppressive and wrong . Ephesians 5 :22-23 is at the top of their list . Paul , whose original name was Saul , according to the Bible , had his name changed when a vision of Jesus appeared to Paul , asking why he was persecuting Christians to such a violent degree ? Then and there , Paul became one of the most important Christians in its two thousand year history as he would be the author of more than 60 of the New Testament . One of the books which Paul is credited with writing is the book of Ephesians . Originally composed of multiple letters , these writings were sent by Paul , to a church in Ephesus concerning how the church is to operate (Henry , 2002 pg 667 It is these letters which form one of the most important books of the New Testament
