Years ago , globalization , for many companies , simply meant developing and offering a product that would be acceptable for all markets However , it has become evident that to be successful in the international arena , a company must think global but act local

Since our company , Boeing , is considering business opportunities in my home country , India , I believe my help can assist the company in meeting its business objectives

I grew up in India , and since I was a child , I have always wanted to be part of this company . In college , I majored

in mechanical design but I felt that my opportunity to work in Boeing will be opened if I earned my masteral degree with aerospace emphasis from South Dakota of Mines and Technology . I was awarded a research sponsorship funded by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA to conduct graduate research into reducing satellite payload with the use of inflatable antennae structures for communications applications

By 1999 , I was still unable to find a career opportunity at Boeing so I worked at the engineering division of Daimler Chrysler Corporation Seeing the problems of the company , on my own initiative , I pursued a part-time graduate degree in Manufacturing at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor where I specialized in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Black Belt . In 2005 , I became a senior design analyst and technical leader in Benteler Automotive where I handled not only Lean manufacturing but also human resource activities . By the time I had graduated , I was on the top of my class and my employers rewarded me for being able to save the company 54 .7 million dollars simply because I applied what I had been learning from school

A door into Boeing IDS in Renton finally opened for me in 2006 . I did not hesitate to leave my high-positioned career for the simple contractor position in our company because it has always been my dream to be part of Boeing . I have received offers from Boeing IDS in Houston to work on the International Space Station and at the BCA in Everett . I chose Everett because I knew that its activities and visions fit my own character . By 2006 , I became part of the Interiors Responsibility Center at BCA as structural analyst in the Sustaining Stress Group and was entrusted with Lean focal responsibility

After all that I have been working on , I realized that product design manufacturing and its business model , are the most important fundamental aspects of a manufacturing enterprise . I have already studied and experienced the first two aspects but I do believe I need to hone my business acumen through an Executive MBA program at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University , a premier business school
