Background about the Program

Program

The program will deal on violent behavior of teens around Hayward California . The participants will be the selected high school and junior high students ages 13 to 17 years old . The respondents will be grouped according to their behavior and counseling needs . The program is set to be to be implemented September 2008 to June 2009

Throughout the entire program , the staff will give individual and group counseling . The roots and causes of the participants ' violent behavior will be dealt with . There would be some activities

designed to strengthen the participants ' self-esteem and their harmonious interaction with other people . The parents of the participants will also be invited to attend some sessions of the program

Problem Statement

Nowadays , the youth have been involved in different issues of juvenile delinquency . Many of them have been involved in gangs and other youth groups that bring problem to the state

Thus , the program will try to reduce the occurrence of juvenile delinquency which involves their violent behavior through careful counseling rather than imposing punishments and detentions

Overall Goals

The program 's mission statement is to promote a safe and peaceful environment among highs school teens

To meet this general goal , the team formulated a simpler objective which is to reduce violence behavior such as physical , emotional and verbal use among selected teens by 25 in Hayward , California

Outcomes and Performance Measures

Have this program successful , the participants ' violent behavior will be lessened . They will gain more self-control and anger management . They will have more self worth if people will appreciate them

Moreover , they will have more interaction with their parents with the help of the team 's counselors . The parents will tend to understand their children 's behavior and the therapy may somehow continue at their homes Thus , the program will also try to tap family problems which are sometimes the cause of child delinquency

The teachers and district board can also be given some reports regarding the program so that it may also be implemented to others schools and community within the state

Activities of the Program

In the entire program , the team will discuss issues about violent behaviors , gangs , and other related issues concerning violence in teens The team will also try to increase the participants ' self-esteem provide personality and mental help sessions . The program aims to help problematic kids with their personal issues and discourages doing detentions

Staffing

The staff of the program will include counselors , psychiatrists program director , and student helpers . Counselors will facilitate the sessions with the participants . The counselors will rotate to each group so that they can share their opinions to all participants in all groups The psychiatrists will deal with the participants individually . They will also handle extreme cases of violent behavior among participants Both the counselors and psychiatrists will talk to the parents of the participants .
