Let us examine the Code of Ethics for dentists including general dentist and the specialists . The Code of Ethics refer to a set of guidelines that determines the professional conduct and helps them meet their ethical duties towards the patients , society and other professionals Dentists under their profession , have to meet certain ethical and moral commitments . The Code of Ethics confirms these obligations and commitments . Hence , for a practicing dentist , the Code of Ethics would be a source of the ethical standards that have to be met and maintained in their professional dealings with the patient and the public . The behavior of the dentist and manner in which they should interact with the community is a part of the ethical code . The ethical code would also be of immense use to the patients and the public . The patients and the public could trust and have confidence in the dentist . They should be sure that the dentist would treat them with care and exercise due precaution during management (ADA , 20005 ADA-C

If the dentist is unable to fulfill the criteria laid down in the ethical code , they could be held for not meeting the guidelines laid down . The dentist could face several disciplinary actions including fines , imprisonment , seizing the license to practice (temporarily or permanently , etc , in case the dentist violates any rule or regulation under the Code of Ethics . The Code of Etches are simple , clear , easy to follow and binding on every dentist that practices . If a person believes that the dentist has violated the Code of Ethics , he could approach the Court or the authority that issues license to the dentist to practice . The Code of Ethics would help to maintain a high professional standard of upholding care . Frequently , the Code of Ethics is considered to be an implied contract between the dentist and the patient or the society . The public would frequently trust the dentists to maintain a high ethical standards , and the Code of Ethics would guarantee the public that the dentist would be following the guidelines The dental authority that regulates dental practice and provides licenses may cancel the license of the dentist to practice .
