Ethics Discussion

Introduction

The U .S . Environmental Protection Agency (EPA ) acts to promote the principles of environmental protection , to enforce environmental regulations , and to

resolve environmental issues "EPA works to develop and enforce regulations that implement environmental laws enacted by Congress (About EPA , 2008 . It is crucial to discuss EPA 's activity within the environmental ethics unit , as EPA is directly involved into resolving the issues of environmental importance . The EPA 's activity was traditionally viewed as that of either a savior or a meddler , but through the Ethical Rights perspective EPA cannot effectively protect and promote the equality and non-violation of all rights

The implications of the EPA activity are very complex , and it appears that environmental activity cannot be perfect : certain rights remain violated both with and without EPA 's environmental protection . The principles of ethical rights perspective state "act in ways that respect the dignity of other persons by honoring or protecting their legitimate moral right (Wenz , 2001 . Thus , what do we have as soon as environment is damaged ? No matter whether we have any agency similar to EPA in action , the fact of environmental pollution breaks the set of clearly determined legal and moral rights : the right for life , the right for health , the right to live in a clean environment , etc . Certainly the EPA 's activity is primarily aimed at preventing the facts of environmental pollution and damage to nature , but no matter how perfectly well the agency performs , it cannot guarantee 100 prevention of pollution accidents . As a result , it does not matter whether the country possesses any legitimate environmental agency : the mere act of environmental damage immediately violates several basic ethical , moral and legal laws

Conclusion

We currently find ourselves in the situation , when environmental rights and the principles of environmental ethics are progressively promoted across the world . However , unless we are able to guarantee 100 elimination of environmental issues , we will not provide absolute protection of environmental principles in a way they are viewed through the Ethical Rights perspective
