Moral authority is the very basis of a person 's perspective with respect to morality . These

sources of moral authority serve as a model for an individual . If the person will be influenced by a

particular source of moral authority , he or she will tend to emulate such person 's acts . As such , it is

very important that

the persons who are usually considered as sources of moral authority must be

very watchful of his or her attitude to be able to show good example

Some of the common sources of morality are parents , grandmother , and bestfriend . With

respect to parents , they are the most influential sources of moral authority . The father and the

mother serve as the most important guide for the welfare of their children . Such welfare includes

one of the most important foundation of success , that is , morality Grandmothers are also sources of

moral authority . Most likely , grandmothers are so close with their grandchildren and would usually

share stories that provide moral lessons . These stories that grandchildren heard from their

grandmothers will stay in their minds when they grow old . Moral lessons include honesty , virtuous

acts , kindness and respect for God and of elders . Bestfriends are also sources of moral authority

They are the people with whom friends will share and confide problems and happiness without fear

and reluctance

In connection with that , there are theories that can be used as explanation of moral authority

like divine command theory and utilitarianism . For purposes of brevity and conciseness , it is

expected in this that only one theory will be discussed in relation to moral authority . It is

interesting to discuss divine command theory as it would give a direct and logical discussion of the

Divine command theory is discussed by the Philosophy of Religion Information and it stated

that , it can be utilized to refer to any one of a family of related ethical inquiries and theories ( Divine Command Theory . The theory is basically founded on the premise that one person

should take God 's will to be the fundamental basis of ethics ( Divine Command Theory

According to the Philosophy of Religion Information , this means that and I quote , things are

viewed as morally good or bad , or morally obligatory , permissible , or prohibited , solely because of

God 's will or commands ( Divine Command Theory

It cannot be denied that God is the Creator of the universe . He is the one who made

everything we were able to see , touch , feel , smell and taste in this life . The perfect knowledge

understanding and wisdom of God enables him to teach us correct principles and means to follow

the same . He is also soverein that He can determine one 's fate Parents have a very relevant role in teaching their children values that will guide them as
