Policemen in the service of the nation were trained to follow such standards and morals . These are the

corporate ethics and professional ethics combined . However , theirs are more specified such as politeness Since they are policemen , they are entitled to serve the country by protecting its people and securing the whole country from threats and enemies

They also follow a code . Five special characteristics they share with the military . These are force , command , reflection , limitation and action . The rule under Force is that there is a monopoly in the use of force between the military and the police , and that the members of this institution are trained to use this force within a group . Command , on the other hand , has superiority and seniority . Which means the command should be carried out by an officer inferior to his fellow officer However , there are rules which a military complies in to avoid abuse and injustice to inferiors . Reflection as defined in the article refers to the recruitment of citizens that qualifies the standards set . However , there are no racial discriminations or the standard of living of the recruit , which means they will accept trainees whether they are rich or poor . In Limitation , bounds are given to the officer in charge , since during this kind of training , instructors are hard to their trainees since it is a military training , they should be under a strict rule , punishments in to learn to follow s practice their ethics and be familiar with life threatening conditions since they will be exposed in such situations . The last one is Action It is the approach they will be doing in different situations at the shortest time following all the characteristics discussed above

Recalling the given situation in the story , Pete in a veteran field training officer and Jim is a rookie who is still working things out to fit in with the others . The incident was just outside the training grounds . There were witnesses including civilians and other fellow trainees . So , obviously if Jim goes with what his instructor asks him to do , many people will know they are lying . So either way , they will still get caught . Because if a different report was stated , they may be sued Jim may be expelled , and his instructor terminated . However , the decision is difficult for Jim since He is getting close to his instructor , he is a rookie and it was his instructor who was asking for his favour .
