Introduction

People are the most important assets of a company . Technologies and product quality can be imitated but not how competitive and well trained the employees are . Engineering and management skills are both necessities for a successful engineering management . Being able to coach technical professionals may be different from teaching professionals from other fields . Empowerment is defined as enabling someone to take control over his actions

and decision-making Engineering management education requires formal education but an undergraduate engineering degree is necessary . The degree usually involves courses in management , finance , and project management Engineering management degree can be completed within 2- 3 years depending on the student 's workload . Generally , engineering managers are paid well simply because it is relatively a difficult job and only a few are qualified for the position . Having an engineering degree does not guarantee a career in engineering management . For the same reason not a lot of engineering graduates aspire for such position

There are several reasons why engineering management is not a very easy job . One major qualification is having good soft skills . People may look at this field with threat or fear given that students and professionals practicing here often confront with many computations and physical works such that engineers are in firms and the actual sites for their jobs Engineering may be a technical job but as a manager , it is important to be able to lead and influence others and to have good decision-making skills . Though engineering management is a tough job , there are several techniques that may be employed to be able to achieve your goals like proper allocation of resources , good team work , investing in soft skills , time management , and professionalism

Review of Related Literature

As mentioned earlier , proper allocation of resources is a key to successful engineering management . Knowing what you have and what you need will surely bring you closer to your goal . Employee empowerment is a strategy by which company can make use of to make the work of their employees more efficient thus making it easier for them to asses the effectivity of their working relationships . It is also a strategy in engineering management . Employee empowerment enables the employee to take responsibility of their actions thus making them feel that they are indeed a part of the company or organization . It gives the employee a feeling of giving a bigger investment on the company . To be able to ensure that employee empowerment will be successful , the company should be dedicated to allow employees to do things on their own . But there should always be a clear line between what an employee can or cannot do .Methodology

This study aims to determine whether employee empowerment is an effective management strategy in engineering firms . The study will be conducted in an engineering firm and questionnaires will be distributed to the employees . One hundred respondents will be randomly selected...
