Employees Ethicks in Workplace
Running Head : Workplace Ethics Name University Course Tutor Date Introduction Employee ethics are very instrumental to job performance in the work place . Where employees adhere to the professional code of conduct less challenges and problems in terms of bad conduct , scandals and conflicts are avoided in the work place . As a result , the work environment in the organization is an enabling one because every employee is guided by the ethical code of conduct to behaving in a manner in line with the requirements of the organization p

Without emphasis on work ethics , organizations would not be able to develop positive organizational environment and as such , it would become impossible for organizational goals to be met . Work place ethics enables employees to make the best choices out of possible alternatives which are aimed at achieving organizational goals . Ethics is about what is morally right and it aims and ensuring that one 's conduct does not affect the common good in the organization . In a bid to ensure that employees conduct themselves in a manner worthy of the organization mission , many have incorporated ethics training sessions as part of their ongoing employee training programs . Adherence to ethics enables businesses to improve in not only performance but also in how they are viewed by the public
Work place ethics saves employees substantial resources in that in a situation whereby employees fail to adhere to the code of conduct or where exists employees are likely to make costly mistakes , which can lead to the organization losing business . Ethics must not be viewed as a tool for controlling employees but rather as a tool of regulating individual conduct for the entire organizational staff . Indeed , the professional code of conduct guides managers and employees alike in that the code of conduct specifies how managers can make business related decisions , which in turn affect the employees . Indeed , ethics are important to the senior management of any given organization in that they act as guidelines during decision-making and therefore protects managers from making morally costly decisions
It should be noted that managers control a wide base of power and resources and therefore if not well regulated , there are high chances that managers can result into misusing their authority and organizational resources for the wrong reasons . Applied broadly , ethics can encompass responsible actions on the part of business towards stakeholders . As a result , ethics is a regulatory system of controlling actions of staff members . In a broad sense , ethics provides guidelines about dos and don 'ts in an organization . These are very useful for employees and especially new employees who are not yet used to the system and can have difficulties in decision making in their new organization
Therefore the code of ethics is seen as a way of dealing with misdemeanors in the work place such as romance , which may involve employees working in the same organization . Ethics are also seen as a way of regulating the spending of company resources since if left unregulated , employees may make decisions , which could be costly to organizations . Work place ethics enable management to achieve high loyalty amongst staff members because most ethical guidelines are designed to make the work of management easier in that the guidelines offered in a professional code of conduct are clear and in a nutshell spell the dos and don 'ts , expectations as well as what an organization classifies as good manners
In conclusion , work place ethics play an integral role in ensuring that employees share common goals and work in a team spirit towards achievement of organizational goals as opposed to working towards achievement of individual goals . Therefore it is evident from the discussion above that , ethics in the workplace contribute to high performance
