English Language Learner or ELL is an area that has immense scope for students and teachers alike . It is therefore very important that a well defined and structured assessment is bound to increase the benefits and the purpose of the system of education . Over a period of time there have been different methods of assessment that have been instrumental in achieving the task . The following sections give a brief explanation of these alternative methods of evaluation

Provides the teacher easy way to observe and to interact with the students . This way they get to comment on individual and group progress and performance
It is easily flexible and can be customized depending on individual requirements
A variety of assessment techniques keeps the student 's attention and inspires good performance throughout as the student does not get bored and always wants to better oneself in all the areas given
Gives ample chances to students to better their performance in all specified tasks giving an individual 's overall accomplishments
