In this , I will describe the changing tendency in school management , from administrative management to leadership management There will be explanations why the administrative management concept can no longer cope with current challenges and the leadership concept must take over . The also contains strategic suggestions for primary school principals to enhance the quality of his /her schooling facility

Introduction

Educational leadership is actually a rather new term . It came into the society in

late 20th century . It represents the effort of gathering components and abilities of the society to achieve educational goals . In other words , educational leadership is the activity to coordinate teachers , parents and pupils to achieve the ideals of education . The term became popular in the late 20th century because of several reasons First , the late 20th century witnessed enhanced attention on the quality of education . For the education world , the late 20th century was the time for reforms and improvements . There are more demands from the society , which put pressure to school management and practically force them to leave status quo and seek for quality enhancement programs

Second , in the late 20th century , the concept of leadership was gaining popularity due to its dynamic and proactive nature . There is a change from the administration management which has become the character of common school management into leadership management . Thus , educational leadership had seemed to replace educational administration in the last development of the education world

In this , there will be discussions on how we can enhance the quality of school management using leadership concepts . Prior to discussion leadership strategies and concepts , there will be an elaboration of the importance of school leadership in education The Importance of School Leadership

School development programs are important activities which leads to the achievement of a better education programs for our youngsters and teenagers . However , the term constitutes significant complexity and challenges . School development includes numerous variables like parent involvement , technology , teaching methodology , professional development educational researches , higher expectations of the society , etc . The complexity of the concept brought people away from the administration management , which is the traditional tool for school enhancement , and closer to leadership management , which promises dynamism and larger capacity in coping with developing conditions . The school leadership concepts did not evolve much prior to the late 20th century because of the inability to recognize the need for leadership capabilities in school management . However , school leadership concepts are at the front line of school management development programs today

The development of the educational world today is filled with the application of educational leadership in to cope with conflicts manage school resources and influence shareholders . Unlike the administration approach , the leadership approach involves creating a long-term vision , defining and problems and opportunities , committing to improvement strategies and taking actions .
